New York cafe - the most beautiful cafe in the world
Did you ever dream of having the breakfast, lunch or dinner in Vatican or Louvre museums? The interior of New York cafe is almost as magnificent as world-famous galleries and museums. The title of The most beatiful cafe in the world was given in 2011 and 2013. Cast your gaze upwards to the ceiling and you’ll see frescoes by Gusztav Mannheimer and Ferenc Eisenhut, dating back to the mid-1800s. All around you, Venetian glass lamps softly illuminate the marble columns and gilded stuccoes. The building was constructed in 1894 by the New York Life Insurance Company as a local head office. The famous New York Café on the ground floor has been a longtime center for Hungarian literature and poetry. Historically cafe had billiard tables and game room. After the First Wold war, the cafe became the center of the night life in Budapest with very luxury interior and world's famous jazz stars performances. It was once said that Ferenc Molnár, the famous Hungarian dramatist and novelist, threw the café’s keys into the Danube River in an attempt to force management to stay open 24 hours a day. Today the café is open from open every day from 8 am until midnight so I’m guessing they eventually found the keys. The prices are a bit overrated, as for Benedict eggs you pay 13$, coffee - 6$, but for sure this place should be on the list to go.
